10,000 Dawns: News From the Future

Next week, 10,000 Dawns will be returning to the adventures of Graelyn and Archimedes with chapter 16 of their adventures hopping through alternate realities, and I hope you're all very excited about it. I am to, but there is more to tell you about!

See, 10,000 Dawns has always been a collaborative project. Annie Zhu and I have worked together on every picture, and her art has changed and enhanced my writing, as most of you already know, but you might also have noticed that I've credited other people with creating characters and ideas. This is because 10kd is a universe I won't be the only person writing in. There will be others, telling their own stories, and its time to talk about what some of those will be!

In 2016 you can look forward to two 10kd books coming out, with the possibility of a third. We have a few projects in the pipeline, but these are the big ones you can expect in the near future:

10,000 Dawns: Anthology 1 (2016) [Title Pending]
Every universe has a history, and every history is told different ways. This short fiction anthology will tell the stories of people living in the universe on Earth, Mars, Venus, and moons throughout the solar system before travel to other realities becomes possible! You'll learn how Mars got its independence, meet amazing new characters, reunite with old favorites, and get to see how everything leads up to the events we explore in future 10kd fiction (and the fiction you've already read!).

10,000 Dawns: Death and Doubling Cubes (2016)
Jhe Aladdin's dad kept something from him. Since he was a child, she has been there in the shadows, and she wants him to be hers. A spirit, a spectre, haunting him from the days his dad was a part of the crew of the ship "the Hand of Glycon". Aladdin needs answers, and to understand the past. Someone else needs to know something though, a being from a reality far unlike our own able to take memories, who seeks to gain the experience of every being. Aladdin will journey through dreams and across space, meeting the Hypercube family who have a history with him he doesn't even know, and getting caught up in a plot by two women to change the face of the universe: Chess Mistress Hex, and Backgammon Jenny...

After travel between alternate realities becomes possible, everything changes for the universe. The crew of the good ship "The Hand of Glycon" somehow become the center of all of it, and their adventures will change the course of not just one reality, but the whole 10,000 Dawns. Featuring many of the most iconic characters and stories from the history of 10kd, this is the Anthology everyone has been waiting for!

As you can see, there are a lot of things coming in the future (including other books we haven't announced yet!). 10,000 Dawns is going to be a fun universe to explore, and I hope you join us all on the journey. -Jim
